Spirit Level

Digital bubble level using your phone's sensors

How to use

A digital bubble level that uses your device's motion sensors to measure tilt. Works like a traditional spirit level — place your phone on a surface to check if it's level.

  1. 1

    Enable sensors

Tap "Enable Sensors" to grant access to your device's gyroscope and accelerometer.

  2. 2

    Place your device

Lay your phone flat on the surface you want to check (Surface mode) or hold it upright against an edge (Edge mode).

  3. 3

    Read the level

The bubble and degree readout show how far off level the surface is. Green = level (within 0.5°).

  4. 4

    Zero / Calibrate

Tap "Zero" to set the current position as your reference point.

  5. 5

    Hold reading

Tap "Hold" to freeze the current reading so you can move the phone away.

Tips

  • Remove your phone case for more accurate readings on flat surfaces.
  • Use Surface mode for tables, counters, and floors.
  • Use Edge mode for walls, doorframes, and posts.
  • Calibrate on a known-level surface for best accuracy.

Requirements

  • Device with gyroscope/accelerometer (most smartphones)
  • Browser permission for motion sensors
